Natural Weekly Makeup Brush Cleanse

How often do you clean your makeup brush set?
• Daily?
• Weekly?
• Monthly?
• “Whenever I get around to it?”

No judgement here. I have a friend who cleans hers after every use, but until more recently than I care to admit, I fell into the latter category.

Since I’ve continued my journey with Younique, I have decided to be healthier with my makeup brushes.

A friend gave me her routine, and I’ve had great success with it.

What you need:
• light cooking oil (olive, canola or other)
• gentle soap and water
• white vinegar
• 3 bowls
• paper towel

Preparation
Fill the bowls with a small amount of each solution. Set up a work station and a stack of dry paper towels.

The Process

Step 1: Dip tip of your makeup brush in oil and swirl gently. Wipe excess along edge of bowl. Wipe the brush on the paper towel. Oil softens the bristles and oil bonds to and removes oil.

Step 2: Dip tip of brush in soapy water and swirl gently. Wipe excess along edge of bowl. Wipe the brush on the paper towel.

Step 3: Dip tip of brush in vinegar and swirl gently. Wipe excess along edge of bowl. Wipe the brush on the paper towel. The vinegar helps tone out and remove any remaining oil. Do not skip this step!!

Last step: stare in horror at all of the oils and pigments that have accumulated in your brushes over the week. Enjoy your clean brushes!
