Pepper Steak Freezer Meal

Pepper steak is the most delicious freezer meal I’ve found. And, on the whole, freezer meals are pretty great. Who doesn’t love an amazing dish they can pull out of the freezer, toss into the crockpot, and huzzah! FOOD? I can’t name anyone actually. And in another post, I’ll talk about the anatomy of a freezer meal, the benefits and ease of them. This isn’t that post!

This post is about one of my most favorite freezer meals that I’ve made several times. When I go to get ingredients, usually I find that the round steaks come in 4-6 pound packages. So, I end up making at least 2-3 “meals.” Now “meals” is in quotations, because for our family, we find that pepper steak makes at least two-three meals for us. It depends how much you eat and what you eat with each. I have found several variations of this recipe around the Internet, and have played with a few combinations… ┬áthis one is tried and true!

Pepper Steak Freezer Meal

2-3 pounds round steak (or any reasonable cut of beef), sliced in half-inch thick strips.
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 large onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves
1/2 green peppers, sliced
1/2 red pepper, sliced
16 oz of canned tomatoes
1 tbsp beef bouillon (I use Better Than Bouillon)
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp steak seasoning
1 tbsp steak sauce

Mix flour, salt, and pepper together. Dredge steak strips in flour mixture – a good pair of tongs will be your best friend. Add all remaining ingredients. Freeze flat and stack multiple bags on top of one another. Night before, take out and place in refrigerator (or pop in microwave for 30 second the morning of) to thaw sufficiently to place in slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 hours. Serve over rice or quinoa and with greens.
