Dive and Fly :: Book Review
Over the course of my bloggyhood, I’ve met some fabulous people that amaze me with their thoughtfulness, creativity and amazing senses of humor. Warren Caterson is one.
I met Warren about 18 months ago and discovered his wonderful cookbook Table for Two. I even wrote about a few of my favorite recipe trials in my review of his cookbook. He in turn, sponsored a giveaway on my blog.
We’ve stayed in touch periodically on Facebook, and earlier this spring, he sent me an advance reader copy of his newest book – Dive and Fly. Filled with the witty repartee I’ve come to expect from nearly every interaction with Warren. (P.S. If you live in the South, particularly in Florida, you can be treated to Warren’s personality first-hand – he does cooking demonstrations on a regular basis.)
I found Dive and Fly captivating and tongue in cheek. I’ve always found the idea of synesthesia fascinating. And, to be honest, I’m a bit jealous of main character Billy Shakes. To be able to experience the world through his senses, to see sounds as well as hear them, to touch something and see it’s color. I feel like I’ve missed out on a whole world… and perhaps we don’t inhabit the same plane. The relationships and conversations had me in stitches and hilarious disbelief… this was well worth my time. A fun and easy read, that’s fast-moving and quirky. I would definitely recommend this as a read anyone looking for some fun.
